Nikon pros: PrO CHALLENGE

It’s hard to get pro photographers to switch camera systems.  So we challenged 3 renowned veteran pros to prove that the top-of-the-line Nikon D3 system of camera bodies, lights, and lenses were up to the challenges of any extreme photo assignment.

Beth Wald shot rock wall climbers in Vietnam to show the versatility of Nikon’s lenses. For strobes, James Balog shot icebergs in Alaska at night. For the D3’s motion-stopping resolution, Sandro shot motorcycle racers in the rain. And National Geographic pro photographer Bill Hatcher documented all the photographers shooting their challenges. All of these photographers pushed the equipment to the limit.

The three shoots were compiled on an interactive website that captured behind the scenes production footage, interviews, featured images, and detailed equipment information. My role: GCD/AD director.

Nikon Pros: Sundance horror Movie

Cinematographers weren’t paying attention to the movie-making abilities of Nikon cameras. So to prove that Nikon equipment could handle productions at the highest level, we hired award-winning writer/director Guillermo Arriaga, two-time Director Academy award-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski to shoot a short horror movie exclusively on Nikon gear.

Launched on Halloween, the short film, “Broken Night”, became an official selection at the 2013 Sundance film festival, and created considerable buzz in the movie business and pro video equipment trade sites. My role: GCD
